Bio
Shakirah obtained her undergraduate degree in biotechnology from Makerere University. She carried out GWAS analysis of suicidal risk among the general population cohort using data from the Uganda Genome Resource. Shakirah is now an MPhil student at the university of Cambridge studying Genomics science and affiliated with the Wellcome Sanger Institute. Her analyses include Hi-C and bulk RNA data. Her current work involves investigating the effect of chromosomal rearrangements on gene expression.
Shakirah is interested in omics and is keen on using genomic science to study NCDs in African populations.
