Bio
Olga Nsangi Tendo is a biomedical scientist and Research Fellow at the Mental Health Unit of the MRC/UVRI & LSHTM Uganda Research Unit. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Laboratory Technology and an MSc in Bioinformatics at Makerere University. Her research focuses on the genetic and immunological determinants of mental health disorders, particularly Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). She specializes in genomic and proteomic data analysis, applying bioinformatics and machine learning approaches to uncover disease risk factors. Olga has received international recognition, including travel grants and scholarships from the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium, Open Science Grid, and the African Society for Human Genetics. She has co-authored peer-reviewed publications and contributed to collaborative projects spanning psychiatry, genomics, and immunology. Her long-term goal is to advance precision medicine approaches for mental health in Africa.
