Bio
Cephas Akpabio is a doctoral researcher in Zoology (Cell Biology and Genetics) at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, where he is currently pursuing a PhD focused on attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). He holds an MSc in Zoology (Cell Biology and Genetics) from the University of Ibadan and a BSc in Zoology from the University of Uyo. His research centres on uncovering genomic and epigenomic mechanisms underlying ADHD in Nigerian children, using genome-wide and epigenome-wide association studies to address the underrepresentation of African populations in psychiatric genetics.
Cephas has published peer-reviewed articles on DNA methylation, schistosomiasis-associated bladder cancer, and environmental health, and has presented his work at international conferences. His notable achievements include a Best Poster Presentation award and competitive research training in polygenic risk score analysis (Uganda 2025) and student exchange fellowship sponsored by the IBRO.
