Bio
Nantale Bitiyyal Fahimah is an MSc student in Bioinformatics at Makerere University, Uganda. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from the Islamic University in Uganda and has experience in biomedical research, microbiology, and biobanking. Her research interests lie in human genomics, statistical genetics, genome-wide association studies (GWAS), and understanding the genetic architecture of complex traits and diseases, particularly in African populations.
She is currently involved in genomic data analysis and is interested in applying multi-trait GWAS and other integrative genomic approaches to investigate shared genetic mechanisms underlying human health and disease. Her undergraduate research on antimicrobial resistance was presented at the 9th National AMR Conference in 2024. Through her work, she aims to contribute to inclusive genomics research and improve the representation of African populations in global genetic studies.
